Our story
A café named for our grandfathers' schooner
Our story begins on a small island on the southern tip of Cape Breton known as Isle Madame, during the era of wooden ships and canvas sails. The café takes its name from the J.W. Bridgeman, the last vessel of Captain Jean-Baptiste Girroir — whose rigging is built into our service counter, a replica of the schooner itself.
Join us in the celebration of an era of wooden ships and iron men.
